THE BIG STORY: Celtic return to league action in a few hours time, facing Kilmarnock at Rugby Park. Celtic are set to make changes from the side which beat Astana on Wednesday, and you can read our match preview here.
Aside from the game, the other big story once more revolves around Celtic’s pursuit of Patrick Roberts. Yesterday multiple sources reported that Roberts had agreed to return to Celtic on a one year loan deal, but this was then contradicted by an influential Celtic website, who said no deal had yet been agreed. What will happen next remains to be seen but it does seem likely that the player will return to Celtic sometime in the next week.
OTHER NEWS: One issue that’s finally been put to bed - for now - is Stuart Armstrong’s future, as his contract now runs until Summer 2019, a situation that Brendan Rodgers described as a ‘win win’ scenario. Stu declared himself ‘delighted’ with his new contract.
ON THIS DAY: In 2000, Celtic defeated Hearts 4-2 at Tynecastle as Martin O’Neill’s side kept up their excellent start to the season. Celtic’s goals came via two headers from Chris Sutton, a Paul Lambert shot that was diverted into the net by Henrik Larsson and a fine solo effort from Lubo Moravcik.
