Barkas departs Celtic.....on loan for now.

Well, there’s still nothing much happening at Celtic and this website has been quieter than usual, but we’ll step it up a notch with some updates anyway no matter how small they are, as well as some news on upcoming GIGPOD shows!

First off, the main news of the day - Vasilis Barkas, the £5m arrival from AEK in the covidball season, has left on loan for FC Utrecht.

The Dutch club announced it earlier today and despite this being a loan deal, you would imagine it’s a view to being permanent, or he’ll move on from Celtic after his time in the Netherlands is up.

It’s a shame it’s not worked out for the Greek stopper. The COVID season of 2020-2021 was undoubtedly a major factor in hampering his progression at the club, and Neil Lennon’s chopping and changing our defence that campaign never helped either, although, if truth be told, some of his performances were dismal and this is coming from someone who desperately wanted him to succeed and shut up some of the doubters.

Alas, things have worked out well, with Joseph Hart replacing Barkas and Bain as our new number one, and Barkas should benefit from a new environment away from us.

Good luck to him!

Elsewhere, still no news on Jota or CCV, but here’s a compilation of the big defender in the meantime.

And finally, if you missed it at the weekend, the GIGPOD end of season awards took place at the weekend and were uploaded almost immediately from ‘the pub’ - you can find it below
