HAMILTON ACADEMICAL V CELTIC: SCOTTISH PREMIERSHIP; FRIDAY 8TH SEPTEMBER 7:45PM
Celtic return to league action after the international break with a Friday night trip to Hamilton.
Team Selection: Brendan Rodgers has a lot to think about when picking his team for tomorrow night’s game, as he has to take into account the players that have returned from international duty and Tuesday’s Champions League opener against PSG. The manager has already confirmed that Leigh Griffiths will miss tomorrow’s game, so it seems likely that new Bhoy Odsonne Edouard will be handed his Celtic debut. Talking of debuts, will Patrick Roberts make his second Celtic debut tomorrow? Yes, but perhaps from the substitutes bench.
The selection of the defence will be intriguing, will Jozo Simunovic be involved? We all know he has an aversion to plastic pitches, so it may mean Nir Bitton having to play at the back again, which isn’t ideal, or perhaps either Lustig or Tierney will move in one and play at centre-half.
Previous Meetings: Three games against Hamilton last season, and three wins, beginning with a Leigh Griffiths goal giving Celtic a 1-0 win at Celtic Park
a thunderbolt by Stuart Armstrong was the highlight of a 3-0 win played in dreadful conditions at the Superseal Stadium
whilst a brace by Moussa Dembele secured the points in a 2-0 win at Celtic Park.
Prediction: This game won’t be easy, with players coming back from international duty the manager hasn’t had a lot of time with the squad, and thoughts will inevitably be turning to the upcoming PSG game, but Celtic should have enough quality to dig out a win by the odd goal.
