Sunday Round-Up: Celts Bid £4 Million For French Youngster?

Lens defender Jean-Kevin Duverne, linked with a move to Celtic

THE BIG STORY: Celtic have reportedly bid £4.8 million for Lens defender Jean-Kevin Duverne. The story was originally reported in French newspaper L'Equipe, who said that Celtic have been impressed with his performances in the French second division, and that a host of clubs are interested in the 19 year old but we are the first to actually bid. Celtic were originally credited with an interest in the player in January, and The Sun are reporting that we haven't yet bid for the player, but that we are interested in him.

The centre-half's age seems to suggest that he is one for the future, but if we are really spending that much money on a player he would surely go straight into the first-team...but then we reportedly spent over £3 million on Kouassi Eboue and he hasn't featured much. We'll keep you updated on this story.

OTHER NEWS: As expected, Jonny Hayes yesterday completed his move to Celtic, and you can read more about it here.

It's been a while since we've had a Moussa Dembele rumour, so thanks to The Sun but putting two and two together and getting twelve, reporting that Everton are set to bid £30 million for Moussa...but only after they sell Romelu Lukaku first. For what it's worth, I don't think that Dembele will leave Celtic - unless we fail to reach the Champions League, then he might be used to make up the cash shortfall, but time will tell.
