Wednesday Round-Up: Smells Like Team Spirit

THE BIG STORY: Brendan Rodgers thinks that Celtic's remarkable success this season is down to the team spirit that has been fostered. He also spoke of his 'honour' at being one of the few managers to be voted Manager of the Year in both England and Scotland. Best of all, he WARNED the rest of Scottish Football that we'll be even better next season.

SITE NEWS: Yesterday we wrote about Celtic's alleged interested in out of contact Chelsea forward Dominic Solanke - read it here - and Emilio Izaguirre revealing to media in Ecuador that he's signed a year's contract extension at Celtic. Read that here.

ON THIS DAY: In 1980, Celtic defeated Rangers 1-0 after extra time at Hampden Park to win the Scottish Cup for the 26th time, George McCluskey deflecting home Danny McGrain's long range shot in the 108th minute. Of course the game is more remembered for the 'riot' on the pitch after the game, where both sets of fans fought with each other and the police, which lead to the banning of alcohol at Scottish football grounds, a ban that still stands to this day.
