Later today, Celtic should be confirming the £5m signing of Vasilas Barkas from AEK Athens, in a welcome move that is a long term investment, and not a stop gap loan deal.
The highly rated Greek international will have his medical today, and then it should be a formality that he’s announced by the club in the afternoon, or tomorrow morning, who knows.
The loans are unfortunately still happening, but we’ve seen it’s not all bad when we’re bringing in utter class like Elyounoussi short term, and another player who’ll be signing on one of those deals very soon is Albian Ajeti, from West Ham United.
After rattling in the goals for Basel, he was signed by West Ham last summer for £8m but has failed to hit the net in every outing for the Hammers. Who knows the reasons behind that, but if he comes up here I’m sure he’ll be able to rattle a few into idiots like St Johnstone and, I don’t know, Rangers.
The season kicks off on Saturday in what has to be the most bizarre start to a campaign ever, amidst this global pandemic with the fans still well and truly locked out of the stadium.
I’ll be back during the week to predict how many we’ll smash Hamilton by. It’ll be a doing of course, but we all know that.
