Celtic 3-2 Lille - A win at last.

For the first time in months, I can write something cheerful about Celtic instead of hammering the team while increasing my chances of suffering an aneurysm midway through an article.

We’re not the finished article, but there were more positives than negatives last night, and seeing quick passing, intense pressing and intelligent off the ball movement was a welcome relief from the Lennyball we’ve became accustomed to since the Rangers defeat. Even Shane Duffy got pass marks.

Now, while I can admit I was getting carried away after the full time whistle, the reality is even if we do go on the winning run we are more than capable of, we’ll still be trailing Rangers in the league, yet I do feel that this game could be the RENNES 2011 moment for this team, albeit a month later than we hoped.

The highlights are here.

It is now imperative that David Turnbull and Ismaila Soro are starting at the weekend, and allowed to kick on from their excellent performances last night.

Furthermore, for guys like Christie, Brown, Barkas and even Edouard, the players who came in and took their places did themselves no harm whatsoever in cementing their positions for the Kilmarnock game and they may now be facing a serious fight to get back in the team if we can keep that tempo up for the rest of the month at least until the Rangers game.

Onwards to Sunday now, and here’s hoping the club manage to make the next few weeks bearable after a draining couple of months.
