Lustig set to depart Celtic

It seems that Mikael Lustig’s Celtic career is now well and truly over, with reports suggesting he is signing for Gent.

After eight years, and sixteen winners medals, the Swede will no doubt look back fondly at his time with the club, and we wish him all the best. I’m sure he’ll be fine.

The pressing issue now, is to put the sentiments aside and get a right back sorted as a priority.

There is no way surely that Celtic can go into any form of competitive fixture with Tony Ralston as our first choice in that position.

There’s already rumours we’re after Carl Jenkinson, as well as Adam Matthews, as a replacement for Lustig.

I felt Matthews nosedived severely in his last two seasons at the club, but I’d still have him back ahead of Ralston in a minute, if that was going to be our only option for this season.

Time will tell, and soon, because the qualifiers will be upon us before we know it.
