Hampden’s been nice to us in recent years, and our record there since Rangers ‘Win Draw’ in the semi final of 2016 has been flawless.
STEP FORWARD NEIL LENNON.
The caretaker boss has a love/hate relationship with the national stadium and on Sunday he’ll be hoping not to job against a team who constantly fail against us there in Aberdeen.
He blew it at Hampden with Hibs, losing to Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup in the 2017 semi final before an unlucky 4-2 loss a year later in the Betfred Semi final.
He did however, triumph in his last encounter as Celtic boss there, when we beat Hibs 3-0 in 2013 to secure the double, where Kris Commons infamously smashed a cheeseburger and a can of coke on the team bus after it. What a pro.
It would surely be inconceivable for us to blow another treble at this point, but Saturday’s performance against Livingston was a serious cause for concern and Aberdeen, who drew 0-0 with us at Celtic Park recently, will have taken plenty of positives from that.
Then again, as we have seen time after time with this Celtic team, they step up and perform when they need to, or rather, bail themselves out with a last minute goal to get them over the line.
Team thoughts and more build up on the site tomorrow, as well as a shoot prediction at the weekend.
