Burkey Bhoy signs, Bayo on the way and more!

New year same me

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

2019 may now be upon us, but the moaning from many regarding Celtic’s ‘lack’ of January signings is as joyful as ever, even though the reinforcements are arriving (A wee command and conquer reference there!) a week into the new year.

Oliver Burke has been snapped up, albeit on loan, Timothy Weah is hours from being officially announced (again, a poxy loan though) and Thomas ‘Tam’ McManus has tweeted that Vakoun Bayo is set to be announced soon too.

I don’t know much about Weah other than he’s the son of a certain Liberian legend, nor do I know a lot about Bayo, but as ever the numbers obsessed accounts on Twitter dot com should be able to get a few Youtube clips up of their skills and goals and ensure we get ourselves hyped up!

Oliver Burke’s a good signing though. Granted, a short loan deal isn’t the greatest, but if he can either step up and replace Sinclair, or even keep him on his toes to force him to be consistent for us again, job done. He’s here in the short term to do the business for us, and if he does, the moans and groans about another stop gap loan signing will be forgotten if he can play a big part in us securing eight in a row.

There has been a massive overreaction to a defeat to Rangers, and some people need to screw the nut, but I know social media doesn’t cater to sensible thoughts most of the time and many will still be tweeting about the SFA or John bloody Beaton.

I don’t mean to sound patronising, because I get it. The standard of refereeing is disgraceful in Scotland, and the fans have been putting up with crap decisions for years. It’s affected many teams here, not just us.

The solution is get full time refs, but it’s not going to happen, and this sort of thing will be ongoing because Scottish Football doesn’t learn from it’s mistakes, or try to make itself better, and market itself properly, so we’ll see this again in a few years after the dust settles from the latest fallout.

Now if you’ll excuse me I’m away to The Crown Bar for a pint!
