Ahead of tonight’s match with St Mirren in Paisley, striker Leigh Griffiths has pledged his future to the club by signing a new four year contract.

Speaking to Celtic TV, he said:

“I’m over the moon,” he told Celtic TV.

”From the moment I walked in the door here, this is where I wanted to be for the rest of my life. I can’t wait for the future.

”Celtic is a great club and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. I had the opportunity to move but I wanted to stay and fight for my place.

”I’ve been rewarded with another deal and knowing that I’m going to be here for another four years is great.”

It’s a good boost for Griffiths, and Celtic in general, to have a striker around that’s guaranteed to body the jobbers at the very least.

Speaking of which, he should be good for a goal or two tonight as well if he starts, in what should be a routine game against St Mirren.

The Buddies record against us has been terrible in recent years, and fresh from the international break, many of our big name players will be up for it you’d imagine.

Prediction: St Mirren 0-3 Celtic and James Forrest to run riot.
