The January Transfer Window Deadline 2018, another gloriously tedious day for all decent minded people who follow fitba clubs. It’s a bit like Donald Trump’s tweets. You know what you’re getting, you know it’s going to be dismal and chances are you’ll roll your eyes and groan but you’ll check for updates continuously anyway to see if there’s a surprise or two in amongst the drivel.

There was indeed, as expected, no major signing for Celtic, unless you count the Musonda loan as a game changer.

The surprise of the window for us was undoubtedly Scott Bain, who will compete with DDV for the number one spot with Craig Gordon facing a lengthy lay off. He’s never been a goalkeeper that’s stood out against us, but neither did Rab Douglas. Wait, hawd on.....Where am I going with this ? I imagine DDV will be the man we’ll stick with in any case during Gordon’s injury, but if Bain comes in at any point, he’ll have a far better defence in front of him than what he’s ever been used to, so will surely not be relying on him that much to earn us points.

What I’ve taken from our business in the window has been.......what are we doing with an NFL-like roster ? That squad is massive, and Brendan’s comments that there would have been a revolving door policy in January has not turned out to be true. A lie ? After his Musonda V Real Madrid patter ? Not for me to say......But seriously, I would have expected Nir Bitton at the very least, to have moved on, but we seem to have twelve midfielders - more members of one area of the pitch than the Wu Tang Clan. That’s mental, and not only that, we’re going into big games with Zenit with a defence that was a shambles in Europe, and with Astana even managing to expose them, Zenit will surely fancy their chances in a couple of weeks.

Also, the ongoing groanworthy saga of Moussa Dembele’s ‘Will he? Won’t he?’ storyline is on hold, again, until another window. It seemed inevitable he would be out the door, but at the last minute, that wolf of wall street meme is getting fired up and his agent will be photo-shopping his head onto Leo D’s to no doubt get the fans back onside.

In saying that, he’s still the best striker we have , so it’s a good thing he’ll be available against Zenit.

Overall, a strange deadline day, in that no one expected anything, except for me, who stupidly predicted a record breaking transfer on the last day and once again have been shown up as an idiot who, for some reason, has a platform to spout drivel time and time again.

A legend, if you will.
