Motherwell 1-1 Celtic

Baffling stuff.

Celtic’s complacency at Fir Park this evening ensured Motherwell earned an undeserved point in a largely frustrating game in Lanarkshire.

The hoops started impressively well, with Ryan Christie yet again opening the scoring early in the game, and Celtic looked in complete control against Burrows FC.

Shortly before half time, an idiot Motherwell defender pillared Ryan Christie and Leigh Griffiths had the chance to make it 2-0 from the spot, but he smashed his effort right at the goalie, and while it didn’t change the game, it was a huge opportunity missed to put the game to bed, especially when before that we had a perfectly good goal disallowed, but that shouldn’t have made any difference against a poor poor home side.

The second half was reminiscent of the Deila Years, with Celtic’s obsession with sideways passing bordering on the utterly monotonous, and after creating next to nothing, and running down the clock, Danny Johnson smashed in an equaliser from a highly acute angle.

It was a fine goal, but it should never have been happening, and our complacency here cost us the chance to go top.

I won’t go on about Rangers dropping points, other than we all knew they weren’t going to be staying at top of the league for that long anyway, but I was gobsmacked a pitiful Aberdeen side beat them. It’s probably the result that confirms they really aren’t going to be giving us a challenge this season.

It’s table toppers Kilmarnock who we face on Saturday, and it won’t be an easy game, but would I leave Scott Brown out for it ?

Tin hat on, but yes I would Kent.

We’re a far more fluid and inventive team without him

Please don’t start greeting that I have suggested the captain sits out for one match at the weekend.
