Rosenborg - who are they and what do they want

Let’s patronise the readers and make out they are an obscure team who we have never heard of.

Thursday’s encounter with Rosenborg will be the sixth time we have faced them in fourteen months, with Celtic winning on three occasions, and drawing twice.

The most recent match between the sides was back in September, when a late Leigh Griffiths header sealed an opening day win for the Hoops.

The Norwegians are languishing at the bottom of Group B, with four defeats in four games, and already have one eye on their cup final this weekend, where they play Stromgodset.

They’re at the top of their league right enough, by five points, so despite their buffoonery in the Europa League, they are clearly doing something right somewhere at that fitba thing, or it could also be a damning indictment of how shocking football now is in Norway.

Celtic have fared badly in their previous two away games in the league, albeit against superior opposition in Salzburg and Leipzig.

As I stated earlier in the article, we’ve beaten Rosenborg away, and drew with them in Norway too in previous encounters, so there’s absolutely nothing to fear, and I suspect the manager will already know this too.

If we start with the tempo we did against Leipzig, we’ll win this comfortably.
