THE BIG STORY: Celtic have been drawn to play Neil Lennon’s Hibs in the semi-final of the Betfred Cup, with the game due to take place on the weekend of October the 21st/22nd, which means that Celtic’s trip to Motherwell - who face Rangers in the other semi-final - has been postponed. It’s our first game against Hibs at Hampden since the 2013 Scottish Cup Final, and it will be the second time we play them in a month, as the teams meet at Celtic Park next Saturday. No doubt our old pal Neil will have plenty to say about the draw at his press conference later today.
OTHER NEWS: Ahead of tomorrow’s visit to Ibrox to play Rangers Brendan Rodgers confirmed that Jozo Simunovic has recovered from a knee injury and is in the squad for the game. We will have our preview of the game on the site later on, but in the meantime you can read Andrew Doran’s ‘Letter From America’ column on watching Celtic-Rangers in America.
ON THIS DAY: In 2012 goals from Gary Hooper and Victor Wanyama gave Celtic a comfortable 2-0 win over Dundee at Celtic Park. Interesting fact: our old mate Rab Douglas was in goals for Dundee and pulled off a fantastic save from a Scott Brown penalty.
In 1990 Celtic defeated Hearts 3-0 at Celtic Park thanks to a brace from Joe Miller and a goal by Gerry Creaney. Full match highlights are below.
