THE BIG STORY: It’s the night we’ve all been waiting for, as Celtic begin our Champions League Group B campaign at Celtic Park against French CRACKS Paris Saint-Germain, and reports are suggesting that Anthony Ralston will be handed only his fifth start for Celtic at right-back, with Mikael Lustig partnering Jozo Simunovic at centre-half. Ralston could be handed the task of ‘containing’ Neymar, but I can understand Brendan Rodgers not wanting Nir Bitton at centre-half after his poor performance in Astana. We really should have bought another defender last month...
PSG manager Unai Emery spoke to the media last night, and pinpointed Leigh Griffiths as a player they have to be ‘wary’ of. You can read what Brendan Rodgers said to the media yesterday here, and read our match preview here. We’ll have lots of coverage of the game on our Twitter account and on the site after the game. Come on the Hoops!
OTHER NEWS: One big bit of news yesterday was the announcement that Scott Brown and Jozo Simunovic had signed new contracts with Celtic, which is a great bit of business by the club. Talking of Scott Brown, he won’t be charged with violent conduct for his alleged ‘kick out’ against a Hamilton player on Friday night, so injury permitting he will be available for the Glasgow Derby against Rangers a week on Saturday.
ON THIS DAY: In 1999, a Mark Burchill goal gave Celtic a 1-0 win over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park, match highlights are below.
