THE BIG STORY: The Patrick Roberts saga looks set to continue as firstly Chris Davies admitted that Celtic are still ‘in dialogue’ with the player, then Nice decided against signing Roberts to sign Monaco’s Allan Saint-Maximim, and reports emerged last that Roberts ‘has indicated’ that he wants to return to Celtic on loan, but apparently City ‘don’t see the value’ in that kind of deal. Phew!

If the players does want to return as report suggest, Celtic should do everything in our power to get the deal done, as Roberts was a huge success last season. We’ll keep you updated on this story as there are no doubt more twists to come.

OTHER NEWS: Celtic begin out Betfred Cup defence against Kilmarnock tonight at Celtic Park, you can read our preview here. It is expected that Celtic will make changes for this game, one that is certain is the absence of captain Scott Brown, who is suspended. Jonny Hayes, who seems certain to start, has been talking about the game.

ON THIS DAY: In 2001, Celtic turned in one of our best performances of the last 25 years, defeating Ajax 3-1 at the Amsterdam Arena in the Champions League play-off first leg. Goals from Bobby Petta, Didier Agathe and Chris Sutton put Celtic on the verge of qualifying for the Champions League for the first time.
