Ahead of tomorrow’s league curtain raiser against Hearts, Brendan Rodgers has been talking to the press, and unsurprisingly our upcoming Champions League play-off against Astana was on the agenda.
He is ‘happy’ with the draw but thinks it will be as tough as our match against them last season, but a good aspect of that factor is that as Celtic played Astana a year ago we know the type of game we can expect in Kazakhstan, which could be an advantage.
In other news, Rodgers confirmed that Erik Sviatchenko is set to miss at least six weeks with the knee injury he suffered against Rosenborg, a development which he described as ‘disappointing’. Perhaps we will try and buy a new centre-back after all.
