THE BIG STORY: An earlier than usual round-up as the draw for the Champions League play-off round takes place in an hours time. We will of course be covering the draw, both on twitter and on the site. No matter who Celtic draw, Brendan Rodgers is expecting a tough game, whilst Leigh Griffiths is looking forward to the games.
OTHER NEWS: Rather ominously, Brendan Rodgers has said that Celtic don’t plan on buying another centre-half, despite the injuries to both Erik Sviatchenko and Dedryck Boyaya. Presumably this means that Nir Bitton will be filling in at centre-half for the foreseeable future, unless Kristoffer Ajer managers to get into the first team. This seems like a gamble that we don’t need to be taking, and we really should be making moves to get another central defender in.
Transfer rumour time: Celtic are amongst a host of clubs linked with Lorient forward Waris Majeed. “How much would he cost, John?” I hear you cry. Well readers, the answer is £9 million. So you can file this under ‘paper talk’.
ON THIS DAY: In 2012, Celtic legend Sean Fallon unfurled the league flag and Celtic began the season with a 1-0 win over Aberdeen, the only goal coming from Kris Commons, as Aberdeen goalie Jamie Langfield somehow allowed his tame effort to trundle into the net.
