THE BIG STORY: The incredibly long-running saga of Patrick Roberts’ return finally looks to be coming to an end, with multiple reports suggesting that the player will be coming to Glasgow tomorrow for a medical, before signing a loan deal until the end of the season. We’ve been here before with stories regarding Roberts but this time seems to be the real deal, with Celtic apparently paying over a million pound at least to secure his return, which is a lot of money for a loan deal. No word as yet if Celtic have negotiated an option to buy the player at the end of the deal but all will no doubt become clear in the next couple of days.

OTHER NEWS: As we are head into an international break, let’s hope that none of the Celtic players on duty for their countries pick up any injuries, especially with the PSG game just two weeks away, and talking of PSG, it looks like we’ll be facing the prodigious talent of Kylian Mbappe when we play them. Sigh.

Best wishes and get well soon to our old pal Gary Mackay-Steven.

ON THIS DAY: In 2013, Celtic overcame a 2-0 deficit to defeat Shakhter Karagandy 3-0 at Celtic Park and qualify for the Champions League Group Stages. A Kris Commons thunderbolt brought Celtic back into the tie, and after Georgios Samaras levelled the tie on aggregate great work from Anthony Stokes set James Forrest who scored the winner in injury time, sparking scenes of wild celebrations.
