CELTIC V ST JOHNSTONE (SCOTTISH PREMIERSHIP: SATURDAY 26TH AUGUST; 3:00PM)

After all the excitement of the Astana game and Champions League draw, it’s back to league duty as Celtic take on St Johnstone, with both sides having a 100% league record.

Team Selection: You would imagine that Celtic will make changes after Tuesday’s excursions in Astana, a big talking point will be Jozo Siumunovic, who missed the Astana game with an injury, despite rumours suggesting that he didn’t play as he may be leaving the club soon. If Jozo starts hopefully that indicates that his future is at Celtic. Calvin Miller and Anthony Ralston could well feature as they have both played well for the first team recently. Further up the park, the likes of Jonny Hayes and Stuart Armstrong should start, along with the mercurial Tom Rogic. Leigh Griffiths is our only fit recognised striker so he will play probably.

Previous Meetings: Four games, four wins against St Johnstone last season, beginning with a 4-2 win in Perth last August

a Dedryck Boyata header was the difference between the sides at Celtic Park in January

Moussa Dembele’s hat-trick, including the goal of the season, was the highlight of a 5-2 win over the Saints in February

whilst a brace from Patrick Roberts capped a 4-1 win at Celtic Park in May

Prediction: St Johnstone have started the season off very well, so this could be a tough test for Celtic, especially after the effort put in on Tuesday night, but with the likes of Rogic and Armstrong fresh we have the players with the craft to edge out a victory.
