THE BIG STORY: As expected, Celtic didn’t add to our squad before the Champions League deadline at 11PM last night, so the squad remains the same for the games that will go a long way to making or breaking our season. The rumours about Patrick Roberts aren’t stopping anytime soon however, with Chris Sutton claiming that the player will sign for Celtic at some stage this month, with other reports that the player is ‘very keen’ to return. That is for the future though, as tonight we face Astana in the first leg of the Champions League play-offs at Celtic Park, and Leigh Griffiths is under no illusions about how important the game is to Celtic. You can read our preview of tonight’s game here, and we’ll have the usual match report and player ratings on the site.
OTHER NEWS: In injury news, Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Eboue Kouassi is to undergo ankle surgery and will be out of action for around two months, but in better news Dedryck Boyata should be back in a few weeks.
ON THIS DAY: In 2014, Celtic defeated Dundee United 6-1 in what was one of the best performances of Ronny Deila’s time as manager, in a day that saw Fergus McCann unfurl the league flag. Celtic’s goals came from Denayer, Commons, Johansen, Stokes and a brace for Jo Inge Berget, of all people.
