THE BIG STORY: Tonight Celtic head to beautiful Maryhill to take on Partick Thistle in our second league game of the season, and it’s a game that James Forrest is looking forward to. You can read our match preview here, and as your humble correspondent is attending the game look out for coverage on our twitter account and we’ll have the usual match report and player ratings up over the next 24 hours.
OTHER NEWS: The Daily Express is claiming that Southampton are set to offer Celtic £3 million for Stuart Armstrong, with West Brom and Everton also supposedly interested. Chances of Celtic accepting that bid - none. The same article also claims that Manchester City would rather Patrick Roberts signed for Southampton than returned to Celtic on loan. Time will tell but I’d file that under ‘paper talk’.
ON THIS DAY: In 2001, Celtic defeated Hearts 2-0 at Celtic Park, with both goals coming from Henrik Larsson, the first free-kick from the edge of the box and the second a nice turn and shot after a pass from John Hartson.
