THE BIG STORY: Unlike other Scottish teams who have hilariously crashed out of Europe, Celtic are still in Europe and last night it was confirmed that we will face Linfield in the second round of the Champions League qualifiers, with the first leg to be played on Friday the 14th of July at 5PM, with Celtic taking no ticket for the game. We'll have far more on this tie next week, including an interview with the author of a soon to be published book on the history of Northern Irish football.
OTHER NEWS: Dedryck Boyata is set to have a scan on the knee injury he suffered in yesterday's 0-0 draw with Slavia Prague, with Brendan Rodgers worried that he might have twisted his knee. It seems highly unlikely that he will be involved in the Linfield tie.
Brendan Rodgers has told Stewart Armstrong that it is 'too soon' to leave Celtic, as rumours continue about the midfielder's future at the club. Rodgers also revealed that Celtic are working to bring in another signing this week, we'll keep you updated on the progress of that signing.
ON THIS DAY: Happy Birthday to Stiliyan Petrov, who was born on this day in 1979. Stan was a lynch-pin of the Martin O'Neill era at Celtic, winning a host of medals and scoring lots of important goals. Most importantly he has fully recovered from a bout of leukaemia, which forced him to retire from football.
