As Celtic attempt to deal with Moussa Dembele’s probable absence until September and Leigh Griffiths struggles with a calf injury, it seems that signing a new striker has become a high priority for the club, but trying to find one that could fit into the team but will possibly not be a first choice striker could be difficult.
The experiment of playing Tom Rogic further forward failed last night, and it isn’t the natural position for either Scott Sinclair or Jonny Hayes. Young Jack Aitchison seems too raw to be given a start, so it looks like a new player will be signed, and it wouldn’t surprise me if Celtic moved for Motherwell’s Louis Moult.
Before people start to howl with derision, I accept that he perhaps isn’t the quality that’s needed for us to go to the NEXT STEP in Europe, but Celtic seem to be in a bind at the moment and the board and management will look at a player who has done well against Celtic in the past, the amount of money he cost and the success of Leigh Griffiths and think that he is worth taking a gamble on. Obviously if Moussa Dembele ends up leaving then we will need a big signing in to take his place as first choice striker, but for now as we seem to have an INJURY CRISIS striker wise then Moult could do a job. You can see the player in action below.
