THE BIG STORY: Time to focus on on-field matters for once, as Celtic play Rosenborg on Wednesday at Celtic Park, knowing that a win over the two legs against the Norwegian champions guarantees European football of some sort - hopefully in the Champions League - until December. We’ll have a preview of the game on the site tomorrow.

ON THIS DAY: In 2011, Celtic began what would ultimately be a successful season by defeating Hibs 2-0 at Easter Road in the first game of the league season. Anthony Stokes gave Celtic the lead in the 14th minute with a nice curling effort into the top corner before a fierce Ki Sung-Yueng drive sealed the points in the 63rd minute. Gary Hooper could have got the third but his penalty was saved onto the post by Graham Stack. Highlights are below.
