THE BIG STORY: Even though Brendan Rodgers claims that he spoke to him to give him ‘support’, Celtic continue to be linked with QPR’s Steven Caulker, with one report claiming that he is ‘increasingly likely’ to join Celtic on a free transfer. The player, who has had to deal with a series of problem off the pitch, was recently ‘urged’ by Scott Sinclair to resurrect his career at Celtic Park. We’ll keep you updated on this story if anymore news breaks.

OTHER NEWS: Celtic have not yet responded to Leigh Griffiths’ UEFA charge, which could result in him earning a ban and missing a Champions League Qualifier.

ON THIS DAY: In 1991, Tony Cascarino signed for Celtic from Aston Villa for £1.1 million. The Irish international striker was the marquee signing for new manager Liam Brady, unfortunately he turned out to be a disaster, scoring only 4 goals in 30 appearances. We somehow managed to trick Chelsea in swapping Celtic legend Tom Boyd for him in February 1992, a rare good bit of Celtic transfer business in those days. Undeniably his finest moment at Celtic was the equaliser in a 1-1 draw against Rangers at Ibrox, when even he couldn’t miss the chance that was presented to him on a plate.
