THE BIG STORY: Twitter has been awash with rumours that Stuart Armstrong is set to leave Celtic, with clubs in England allegedly offering him far more money than Celtic can. Naturally we need to take comments on Twitter with a pinch of salt, but it does seem likely that there is something in these stories, as Armstrong continues to stall on signing a new contract. We’ll keep you updated on this ‘story’ as it progresses.

OTHER NEWS: More transfer rumours, and Arsenal will apparently SWOOP for Moussa Dembele if Alexis Sanchez leaves them. This is probably just paper talk, Dembele will be linked with clubs until the transfer window closes, and nothing about his future will be decided until Celtic’s Champions League qualifying campaign is over.

Kristoffer Ajer has praised Brendan Rodgers for talking him into playing in his new role as a defender. Ajer, who excelled on loan at Kilmarnock last season, could well feature in the first team this season, especially with the injury issues in defence we have.

ON THIS DAY: In 1998, Dr Jozef Venglos was appointed Celtic manager. Dr Jo inherited a Celtic team in a bonus dispute with Fergus McCann, and by the time he had got to grips with the situation the league title was gone. However, he did bring Lubo Moravcik to the club, and Lubo starred in the highlight of Dr Jo’s reign, the 5-1 victory over Rangers at Celtic Park in November 1998.
