Thursday Round-Up: Celtic Set To Sign Ipswich Youngster?

Kundai Benyu - set to join Celtic?

THE BIG STORY: Celtic could be set to sign Ipswich Town midfielder Kundai Benyu. The 19 year old, who is out of contract with the Championship side, would still cost a fee, as Celtic would have to pay compensation.

According to The Scottish Sun, Celtic have held off competition from Tottenham, West Ham and Aston Villa to sign the player, who last year shone on loan for non-league Aldershot, scoring five goals for them.

The player certainly seems to have a lot of potential, but midfield is an area where Celtic are overflowing with players, so perhaps he has been signed to play for the Development Squad at first. You can read about what type of player he is in this article from an Ipswich Town fansite, and we'll keep you updated on the progress of this unexpected signing.

OTHER NEWS: Celtic began our pre-season tour of Austria, with a 1-0 win over BW Linz thanks to a James Forrest goal, Brendan Rodgers was pleased with the run out the players got, as he explained to Celtic TV.

Rodgers' son Anton played as a trialist in the game, but he revealed that he won't be signing for the club.

Linfield defeated La Fiorita 1-0 in the first leg of their Champions League qualifier last night, so it's still in the balance if Celtic will be travelling to Belfast or San Marino.

Craig Gordon thinks that Celtic are in a 'better shape' now than we were a year ago when Brendan Rodgers took over at he club.

Former Celtic manager Ronny Deila has BLASTED Dave King's recent idiotic comments about Celtic’s title triumphs, describing King as 'stupid'.
