Friday Round-Up: Time To Move On From Roberts?

THE BIG STORY: With supposedly up to 12 teams interested in Patrick Roberts it seems that the chances of him returning to Celtic are slim, we probably just can't afford the transfer fee. A lot of people won't like to hear this, but in my opinion Jonny Hayes will be Roberts' replacement next season. He might not be as young or as skillful as Roberts, but last season Hayes scored more goals and had more assists than Roberts. So perhaps it's time to say thanks for the memories to Patrick Roberts, and the part he played in helping to secure the Invincible Treble.

OTHER NEWS: Newcastle and Huddersfield have been linked with Jozo Simunovic, with a fee of £8 million quoted. File this one under 'paper talk', there's no way we'd let one of our first choice centre-backs go without getting a replacement in first.

ON THIS DAY: In 2009, Tony Mowbray was appointed as Celtic manager. Oh dear, what to say about Tony Mowbray's brief reign at Celtic? He was dismissed after a pitiful 4-0 defeat at St Mirren which left Celtic ten points off Rangers, but the writing was on the wall long before that, points dropped all over the place. I tried to find a video 'highlight' of his time at the club, and manage to find the opening day 3-1 victory at Pittodrie, which turned out to be a false dawn and a half.
