Saturday Round-Up: Brendan Looks Back On Year One

General view of the players in action in the goal area during the Scottish Cup Final match
Joe Miller scores the winning goal in the Scottish Cup Final on this day in 1989

THE BIG STORY: Brendan Rodgers has been talking the first anniversary of his appointment with Celtic, saying that he 'never thought I could be this happy' with a club. He has done an incredible job transforming Celtic in a year, and as the team stands on the verge of history we thank him for his efforts. Rodgers also confirmed that Leigh Griffiths is in his plans for tomorrow's game against Hearts after he apologised for his OUTBURST after being substituted against Partick Thistle. We'll have a preview of the Hearts game on the site later today.

OTHER NEWS: Celtic have allegedly offered Manchester City £6.8 million for Patrick Roberts to turn his loan transfer a permanent one. Not sure about this one to be honest, I feel that the player will want to try and break into City's first team.

Celtic won more awards yesterday, congratulations to Brendan Rodgers and Scott Brown.

ON THIS DAY: In 1989, Celtic defeated Rangers 1-0 at Hampden Park in the Scottish Cup Final, winning what would be our last trophy for six years. The only goal of the game coming just before half-time when Joe Miller intercepted a Gary Stevens backpass to hammer the ball into the net.
