Wednesday April 20th: City Of Glasgow Cup Final; Celtic Under 17s 2 (Henderson 17' Aitchison 68') Rangers Under 17s 1 (Shiels 44')

Celtic made it four City of Glasgow cup wins in a row with a hard-fought but well deserved 2-1 victory over Rangers, with Jack Aitchison the matchwinner.

Celtic started the game in control, with Henderson and Campbell both coming close. The opening goal finally arrived in the 17th minute, Daniel Henderson with a tidy finish at the second attempt after his first effort had been saved by Kinnear (1-0).

Rudden had an effort saved by Mullen with Rangers' first chance but Celtic continued to dominate, with McInroy and Campbell having chances. Rangers equalised completely against the run of play just before half-time, after good play by Billy Gilmour ended up with Shiels scoring the equaliser, 1-1 at half-time.

Rangers started the second-half on top, Shiels and Rudden both having efforts saved by Mullen. Celtic gradually got back on top however, and went back into the lead after some great play by Aitchison, who took a pass, beat two men and found the room to out the ball into the back of the net (2-1).

The game took one final twist with five minutes left, when McInroy was sent-off for a second bookable offence, but Rangers couldn't take advantage of their extra man, Zata heading their best chance over the bar.

The final whistle blew soon after, and Celtic had won the City of Glasgow Cup once again. High praise has to be given to Aitchison, Henderson and McInroy, who all had very good games. Here's hoping that this result is an omen for the week ahead...
