Watching Celtic's midfield struggle against, a let's be honest here, crap Rangers team on Sunday made me think of how much we are missing the guile and craft of Tom Rogic.
Rogic has taken his game to a new level this season, he's scored ten goals already, which was the number of goals he scored last season. His passing and ability to keep the ball and create chances was pivotal when we beat Rangers 5-1 back in September, undeniably one of our best performances of the season. He also controlled the 1-0 victory over Rangers in the Betfred Cup semi-final.
We've already mentioned his goalscoring abilities, he has pitched in with some vitally important goals, such as the thirty yarder against Kilmarnock last season which all but clinched the league title
Whilst this season he scored the only goal at Pittodrie against our closest ‘challengers' Aberdeen
He got the ball rolling in the Betfred Cup final victory with the opening goal
Our midfield has been very strong this season, Scott Brown and Stuart Armstrong have had possibly their best season in a Celtic jersey, but they lack the guile of a player like Rogic, who is able to create magic out of nothing.
There were rumours before kick-off on Sunday that Rogic was undergoing a fitness test and that he could perhaps feature in the game, as we know now that didn't happen, but having Rogic back in time for the rest of the season and in particular the Scottish Cup semi-final would be a huge boost to the team.
We are a completely different team with Rogic in the side, and in my opinion had he played on Sunday we would have won the game quite comfortably and not been dragged down to Rangers' level. So here's to Rogic coming back and being the man to lead us to the treble. Watch a compilation of Rogic from this season so far below.
