SATURDAY 11th FEBRUARY - CELTIC 6 INVERNESS 0
Celtic made it 30 domestic games unbeaten with a very comfortable 6-0 over Inverness in the Scottish Cup, the star man once again was Moussa Dembele, who became the first Celtic player to hit a hat-trick in back to back games since Henrik Larsson in 1999.
Brendan Rodgers brought Dembele back to the starting line-up, with James Forrest in for the injured Patrick Roberts. Erik Sviatchenko replaced Jozo Simunovic.
Inverness were out to frustrate Celtic, putting men behind the ball and putting in some...agricultural challenges, and it took Celtic until the 20th minute to take the lead, and what a goal it was, a Bitton pass was controlled in the box by Mikael Lustig, who took a great touch and finished in style (1-0)
After yet more Caley thuggery, Celtic killed the game off just before half-time, when a Forrest cut-back was finished by Dembele, with the ball just squirming over the line, it really should have been saved by the Inverness goalkeeper Williams. (2-0)
Dembele got his second in the 50th minute, after Sinclair was challenged in the box the broke to Moussa who finished in his usual emphatic style. (3-0).
The fourth goal arrived only 9 minutes later, Dembele completing his second hat-trick in two games with a nice header after more good work from Forrest. (4-0).
Despite constant pressure we had to wait until the 86th minute for our fifth goal, almost a replica of the fourth as Tierney headed home a Forrest cross for Celtic's 100th goal of the season. (5-0).
The best goal was left for last, as captain Scott Brown made it six in the last minute, thrashing a strike into the top corner. (6-0).
Final score 6-0, and yet another fine performance from this seemingly unstoppable Celtic team, naturally most of the plaudits will go to Dembele but credit has to go to James Forrest for his three assists, the only blot on his copybook being when he missed a great chance to make it 5-0 at the time. But he has done enough to get his place back in the first team.
The treble is still on!
