THE BIG STORY: Brendan Rodgers has admitted that he will attempt to solve Celtic’s issues in defence by signing a new central defender in the January transfer window.
With Jozo Simunovic injury prone and Erik Sviatchenko both injury prone and out of favour, Celtic have been forced into playing the likes of Nir Bitton and Mikael Lustig in defence, which unsurprisingly hasn’t always worked. We really should have signed another defender in the summer, but January is better late than never I suppose.
OTHER NEWS: The round-up is earlier than usual due to lunchtime’s Betfred Cup semi-final against Hibs, and Brendan Rodgers has tipped Moussa Dembele to make a big impact on the game.

ON THIS DAY: In 2006 a Stephen Craigan og and a Maciej Zurawski goal won the day in a 2-1 Celtic victory over Motherwell at Celtic Park. Fun fact: Scott McDonald scored Motherwell’s consolation goal.
In 2000 goals from Henrik Larsson and Alan Thompson gave Celtic a 2-1 win over Dundee United at Celtic Park. Match highlights are below. United’s goal came from a bizarre Paul Lambert og.
