Tuesday Round-Up: We’re All Off To Germany In The Green

The Allianz Arena, where Celtic will train tonight

THE BIG STORY: Celtic travel to Munich today for tomorrow’s Champions League clash with Bayern, and hopefully the likes of Brown, Armstrong and Simunovic are all fit to travel and start the game. We’ll have updates on any team news as we get it and later today on the site we’ll have a view from Bayern fans on the game.

OTHER NEWS: Former Celtic striker Jorge Cadete has made the rather bizarre claim that Celtic turned down an offer of £9 million from Leeds to sign him in 1996. I just can’t see that being true, particularly in 1996. I think Jorge must be...confused. Anyway, here’s a reminder of Jorge doing what he done best at Celtic, cause trouble...I mean, score goals.

ON THIS DAY: In 2010, the extremely controversial ‘Dougiegate’ game took place between Celtic and Dundee United at Tannadice. It’s too long to go into, but there was a referee’s strike about a month after this game took place. Laughable when you think about it. Anyway, Celtic won this game 2-1 thanks to a late Gary Hooper goal, and the video below sums up the game nicely.

In 2007, Celtic turned in one of our best Champions League performances ever, defeating Benfica 3-0 at Celtic Park. Kenny Miller scored a brace - the second a brilliant counterattacking effort - and Stephen Pearson chipped in with a third towards the end. A truly great night in Paradise.
